One word: diversity. 

The world is a diverse place, culturally and physically. 

My desire to travel first made itself known in school, when learning about countries completely different to my own. Places where people live different lives as a result of their cultural practices, physical surroundings and history. The more I would learn about a place, the more I desired to visit it and see it first hand, be it the natural beauty of the Andes or the rich historical heritage of European capitals. 

The diversity of language and communication is something I am very passionate about. Even studying just one different language to my mother tongue has opened up so many doors of opportunity and has allowed me to meet a rich variety of kind and interesting people, whose stories are so different to my own. I find it true you can make friends in the most unlikely of places, such as an old Peruvian lady who would always give me the freshest bread for free every time I ever entered her shop. 

Traveling has opened up my own diversities. I found myself being able to adapt to different situations and do things I never thought I would be able to do. These include hiking up everlasting mountains, teaching my native language to others both much younger and older than myself, surviving tremulous bus journeys, camping out under the stars in the Amazon jungle, but also learning to appreciate my own company whilst on the move.

Travel has given me a range of  experiences that I will never forget. And my desire to discover more of this diverse world continues every day.
