Why I Travel - Alexandra Perpick

There’s a certain feeling in the atmosphere when you wake up at 2am to catch that 5:00 flight.

The smell of the air, the stillness of the early morning as you make your way to the airport and then suddenly, you’re somewhere else entirely.

Like smelling a perfume that I associate with someone, I have such strong memories of this feeling when I was little.

My parents instilled the desire for adventure and travel at such a young age that I’m still chasing after it now.

Travel has always been important to me.

I did all of my degrees abroad and am currently in the process of moving to Copenhagen.

My solo travel journey started, as so many do, with running away from heartbreak and grief. In the healing process, I found my best friends, my passions, my career and was able to stimulate my curiosity and creativity in a way I never have before.

There’s everything to gain from it; learning about cultures, new experiences, endless possibilities and wonders.

It’s a gift to my future self, it’s freedom, because in the end, all we have are memories and I want mine to be colourful and in 20 different languages!
