Personally, there are three main reasons as to why I travel. First and foremost, I travel because I can. I was first inspired to leave the States when I realized that I had nothing holding me back. It was right after graduating from college and floating in that awful limbo I realized it was time to try something new. This led me to the Peace Corps. From there, my interest in seeing the world and exploring new cultures exploded. During my brief two and a half years in Albania, I had the opportunity to visit a good number of countries as well as host around one hundred couch surfers from all over the world.
I also travel because I'm not supposed to. I'm expected to use my degree. I'm expected to find a husband, to settle down and follow the yellow brick road but the thing is, I don't want to. And lastly, I travel for me. I'm not just sightseeing; I'm discovering parts of myself which is all part of this beautiful journey. There is only so much you can learn if you confine yourself to one spot but when you expand the boundaries you see things that you wouldn't have seen otherwise.
